Not by default. A standard quad bike is classed as off-road unless it has been specifically registered and modified to meet road-legal requirements (lights, mirrors, registration plate, MOT where applicable). Many of our customers use their quad bike purely on private land, farms or estates, where road registration isn't needed. If you do need to travel on public roads - even briefly, between fields - check the current DVLA and gov.uk requirements, or ask us when you enquire and we'll point you in the right direction.

A road-registered quad has full road tax and MOT status and can legally be ridden on public roads. An agriculturally-registered (or unregistered) quad is intended for private land, farm and off-road use only. Which you need depends entirely on how and where you'll use it - we're happy to talk through what's right for your situation.

On private land, generally no licence is required. On public roads, a quad bike falls under specific licence categories depending on its size and how it's registered - the rules differ from a standard car licence. If road use is part of your plan, it's worth checking the current requirements on gov.uk before you buy.
